To protect fresh water... I am trying to teach my 9th grade students that not everyone in the world has access to fresh, uncontaminated water. When we talk about parasites I bring a large bucket to class filled with muddy dirty water. If a student asks if they can go get a drink i tell them "sure, but first you have to stand with that bucket on your head for 15 minutes" (explaining that it simulates walking to a river) Depending on their response some say no way and I tell them to look in the bucket and they see it is dirty water. Others play along and stand for 15 minutes and then ask if they can go to the fountain. I tell them "no, you have to drink out of the bucket" They then see the dirty water. It is an interesting way to lead into discussions about parasites in water and how women in underdeveloped countries usually have to walk to get that dirty water. I cant remember where I found it but I have sign in my room that reads "You won't protect what you don't love. It's hard to love what you don't understand. And you can't understand what you aren't taught. I hope that these small changes (insights) in each student can add up to a big change.

To me, clean water means ... it is not only free of physical and chemical contaminants, but also energetically pure. To protect fresh water, I am ... offering violet flame through meditation to neutralize discordant energies whenever I can. My greatest hope for water is ... that it is part of all our physical being so when we change our thoughts and live heart centered life we can change the vibration of water in our bodies in a positive way. We often think of what comes into our bodies, but it is also important to think of what goes out of our bodies as well ... since it all gets recycled. We can choose to be a charger of positive energy into Earth's water system! And I am!

Our bodies are made mostly of it (up to 70%) and we can’t survive without it for more than a few days. However, this precious resource is something most of us take for granted. Many of us do not know that New York City’s water is considered one of the best and our city is one of the five large cities not required to filter it’s drinking water. This is pretty radical considering most of the world’s pure water supply is scarce. However, I still recommend using a water filter to remediate chlorine and fluoride, which is added to meet state and federal requirements. It is also important to know that bottled water is not necessarily a better alternative to tap. In fact, many studies show bottled water can be just as polluted as a tap water.. And that’s not even considering all the plastic involved in bottled water! Our attitudes about the quality of our water continue to evolve as more people become educated about specific contaminants, which now include rocket fuel and the numerous chemicals from Hydraulic Fracking fluid. The current issue of ‘Fracking’ should be of great concern for everyone, not only those living in or near a watershed, but for all of us. I believe we all live in a watershed. We know that water sustains all living things—humans, plants and animals— and travels through watersheds, it is also important to understand what a watershed is and what each of us can do to help protect the quality of the water flowing through our watersheds. “Watersheds are sacrosanct.” Our quality of life is linked directly to the quality of water we drink. March 22rd is World Water Day – and a great day to dive into the issues surrounding Earth’s most precious element! Clean water to me means life sustaining and life supporting. Clean water is an essential element of life on every single level. The human body is made of of greater than 60 % water and blood comprises over 90 % water. Our planet's fauna and flora, terrestrial, aquatic and marine require clean uncontaminated water. “The freshwater resource I most want to protect is the St. Johns River in Florida. To me, it represents various aspects of "life." The river is more than a source for water, it is a "fountain" of knowledge about life past and present. Its beauty, serenity, and constant motion remind me of my responsibility to be a steward of our environment.

I think water should be free and as clean as possible. I have read that some companies want to privatize water. I did so much work with Seattle/King County works. My mom wasn't doing well so I went back to Florida and that state has a serious water problem. When I left Florida in 1987, the newspaper said there were around 800 people were moving to Florida a day.I saw acouple of weeks ago they gave the same number as to 800 people moving to Florida a day.
